A six-month online coaching experience for women who are ready to stop people-pleasing, build self-trust, and start living from their own desires

Welcome to Conversations at the Threshold, a space for the messy middle, the tender becoming, and the brave act of choosing yourself.
This is the first episode of the Self-Devotion Series, an eight-part journey exploring what it means to stop abandoning yourself and begin coming home to who you truly are.
In this episode, we’re exploring what happens when your life looks right on the outside, but something inside of you knows that something is no longer aligned.
Listen to the episode
Have you ever woken up and felt like your life was already overwhelming before the day even began?
A few years ago, I started waking up before my alarm every single morning with this deep sense of dread in my chest.
Before I even opened my eyes, it was already there.
My body was already bracing for the day.
My mind would start running through everything waiting for me:
The classroom.
The lesson plans.
Being pulled in a million directions as I supported my 20 students.
Recess duty.
Meetings that could have absolutely been an email.
It was a pace that never really stopped.
And the thing was, it wasn’t that anything was wrong.
I was good at my job. I absolutely adored my students. On paper, my life made sense.
I had made all the “right” choices.
I was on a career path that I could retire from.
But my body was telling me a completely different story.
I realized there was no ease or joy in my mornings anymore.
There was no gratitude for waking up to a new day. There was no curiosity about what was going to unfold.
Before my feet even touched the ground, my body had already decided the day was something to survive instead of something to actually enjoy.
Over the next few years, I kept telling myself I was just tired.
I worried that I was already burned out after eight years in a career I thought I would retire from.
I kept feeling more and more guilty because I was good at my job.
I knew that to be a teacher, it took a very special type of person. It took someone who cared deeply, someone who was willing to give so much of themselves to others.
And I was that person.
So I kept waiting for the feelings of frustration, overwhelm, and apathy to go away.
But they didn’t.
They continued to grow.
And then the pandemic happened, and we all know how deeply that changed the way so many of us experienced work, life, and ourselves.
Looking back now, I can see what I couldn’t fully understand then:
My body wasn’t betraying me.
It was trying to get my attention.
One practice that has supported me through different thresholds, especially this career threshold, is something I call my body attunement practice.
Like all the practices I love, it’s very simple.
Usually, I’ll sit in front of my altar and begin by taking a few moments to become fully present in my body.
I tune into my breath and feel it flowing in and out.
I give myself time to simply be.
Once I’ve settled in, I ask:
“Dear body, what would you have me know?”
And then I listen.
I notice what’s here:
The sensations.
The emotions.
The thoughts.
The tightness.
The warmth.
The numbness.
The heaviness.
Whatever is present, I practice staying with it without trying to fix it, change it, or interpret it too quickly.
I simply witness it.
Because so often what we’re calling confusion or overwhelm is actually our body communicating with us.
Our bodies are always speaking.
This practice allows us to begin learning how to listen to them again.
I’ve noticed that my body almost always knows before my mind catches up.
Sometimes nothing dramatic happens.
Sometimes all I notice is a heaviness in my chest, a lump in my throat, or a quiet sense that something feels off.
But over time, this practice has helped me trust those whispers instead of waiting for my body to need to turn those whispers into screams.
So often, we wait until our bodies are really loud before we listen.
We wait until exhaustion takes over.
Until we can’t ignore the anxiety anymore.
Until our bodies are no longer whispering, but shouting.
But long before that, our bodies are often gently communicating with us.
They are letting us know that something needs our attention.
That something may no longer be aligned.
When I look back on that season of my life — the dread, frustration, exhaustion, and confusion because nothing had really changed on the outside — I can see it differently now.
My body wasn’t telling me that something was wrong with me.
It was showing me that I had outgrown a version of my life that no longer fit who I was becoming.
The truth is, thresholds rarely begin with clarity.
They begin with whispers.
They begin with your body quietly communicating that something is no longer aligned.
And your version might look different.
Maybe it isn’t your career.
Maybe it’s a relationship you’ve outgrown.
Maybe you’ve been feeling disconnected from yourself, your purpose, or your creativity.
Maybe you find yourself waking up already exhausted, counting down to the weekend, or wondering why the life you worked so hard for no longer feels like it fits.
Whatever this looks like in your life, I invite you to begin paying attention to the places where your body keeps asking for your attention.
The heaviness.
The resistance.
The longing.
The inner knowing you’ve been trying to explain away.
These whispers aren’t something to fear.
They may be the very first signs that you’re standing at a threshold.
Before you move forward, I invite you to sit with these questions:
Where in my life do I feel a sense of dread, exhaustion, or resistance that I’ve been overriding or explaining away?
How has my body been communicating this to me?
Your body has been speaking to you.
This is an invitation to begin learning its language.
