Many women I have spoken with have expressed the desire to reconnect with themselves. They are ready to turn within, to deepen their connection with all the facets of themselves: their minds, bodies, and spirits. In regards to this need for true communion with Self, the term feminine embodiment has been used a lot lately, but you may be asking yourself, what exactly is feminine embodiment?
Each of us, regardless of our gender, has masculine and feminine energy. We live in a society that is focused on our masculine energy, the need to constantly be achieving, always on the go. As your feminine embodiment coach, I will guide you in embracing and harnessing your feminine energy, your flow. These are the intuitive, emotional, and sensual aspects of your being that support you in living a full, vibrant, and aligned life.
Embodiment means to be in the body. Many of us have become disembodied or disconnected from our bodies. We live our lives in our heads, prioritizing what we think, devaluing and dismissing what we feel, and ignoring (or not even being aware of) our bodies’ inherent wisdom. Our bodies hold information about our emotions, thoughts, and experiences. When we are embodied, we are able to access this information and gain insight into who we are, what we desire, and how we can best meet our unique needs. Being embodied leads to self-discovery, self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-love. As your embodiment coach, I will support you in reclaiming, honoring, and reconnecting with your body.
My embodiment journey began long before I knew what embodiment was. I just knew I was tired of feeling disconnected from myself. I was exhausted from ignoring the messages my body was constantly sending me, of viewing my body as my enemy whenever I experienced undesired emotions and sensations. I was desperate to reclaim myself and my body so that I could live an authentic and aligned life. I decided something had to change, and began my meditation practice.
Meditation was the gateway to my embodiment journey. It provided me with intentional time to slow down and actually feel. Meditation allowed me to discover that I had been running from myself, my challenging emotions, and my intrusive negative thoughts and limiting beliefs for so long that I no longer knew who I was, what I needed, and what I wanted in my life. I’d been putting so much energy into pleasing others in order to earn their love, that I hadn’t spent any time cultivating love for myself. While these revelations were difficult, they were the beginning of my inner transformation from self-loathing and constant people pleasing to unconditional self-love and putting myself needs and desires first.
Now that you know what feminine embodiment is, let’s look at the reasons why many of us are dis-embodied, or not connected to our bodies and their true nature. We are living in a culture that has socialized girls and women to believe they are:
Becoming more embodied will change your life. It will support you in becoming more grounded, more rooted, in your truest and most authentic self. Feminine embodiment helps you to remember that you are inherently worthy, just as you are, and that you already have within you everything you need to create a life of purpose, passion, and pleasure.
Many of us are stuck in our heads, or the mental aspect of our bodies, focusing mostly on what we think versus how we feel. Feminine embodiment supports us in integrating and using all of the body’s wisdom through its internal felt senses. Our internal felt senses are experienced through the four dimensions of our bodies. They are how we feel, sense, and experience life through our senses. The four internal senses felt are:
As your feminine embodiment coach, I will support you in tuning in to each of your internal felt senses so that you can connect and listen to your body in a more balanced way in order to reach your goals.
Engaging in feminine embodiment practices will allow you to express and release emotions and tension so that you can live and make decisions from a more grounded and authentic space. Embodiment work encourages you to notice when you are feeling stressed, to take a moment to acknowledge and to the best of your ability, welcome your stress instead of trying to push it away. By tuning into your body and the messages it is sending you, you can begin to get curious about how your body would have me move as that stress. This allows you to be fully present by shifting from what you think about your feelings, to simply experiencing them as they are without judgment.
Feminine embodiment practices will support you in learning how you can offer yourself the love and compassion you have been seeking from others. It will help you discover that there is such power in creating intentional time and space to listen to your body and heart, to speak loving and empowering words over yourself as you would to a friend who is flowing through the joys and sorrows of life.
Another huge benefit of feminine embodiment is the opportunity to release old narratives, limiting beliefs, and blocks that are holding you back from living fully and authentically. Many of us have been struggling with limiting beliefs that simply aren’t true. Embodiment supports you in asking your body and heart what your ultimate truth is, not what society, family, and friends believe to be your truth. Reclaiming what is true for you and your life will give you permission to step out of your comfort zone so you can begin to make your dreams come true.
Feminine embodiment practices will support you in becoming more empowered and gaining confidence. It will remind you that you have the ability to hold space for yourself, to offer yourself unconditional love, and move with instead of against your body and emotions. Embodiment will help you to become the best friend you’ve always wanted. The curious, not critical, person you can always rely on. This is my wish for all women: to re-member, reclaim, and embody their power fully.

There are many embodiment practices that can help you deepen your connection to your body and the wisdom it holds. Here are two of my favorite embodiment practices:

2. Embodied Journaling
Journaling is a great practice to support you in connecting with your thoughts and emotions. Embodied journaling can help you bring awareness to your body and its sensations. Here are the steps to embodied journaling:
